As I was getting ready to graduate college, I realized I had no interest in growing a career in my field of study. I spent so much time and money pursuing a credential I didn’t want to use.

I began working and it was easy for my manager to see that I didn’t enjoy the work. We talked and he suggested that I pay a visit to our growing IT Department. The IT Director suggested I get certified in Microsoft Certified Professional for Windows 2000 and then pay him another visit. I bought a book from Microsoft Press for less than $50 and studied every day on the hour bus ride to and from work for three months. I got certified and my IT career was born.

Fast forward to 2010…I began to specialize in Networking by earning certifications. While I’ve earned a few certifications that have expired with time, the following are currently active:

CCNP Enterprise
CCNA Security
CCDA

I’ll take the CCIE lab exam when scheduling permits…
